Going over
the different classes offered at Miami Dade College, I found with the public
speaking, but I wasn’t very sure about taking it , just because of the fact
that public speaking might be a little intimidating sometimes. I am so glad I
decided to take it. That classroom turned into a place where I felt alive more
than anywhere else. Thanks to that class I now feel more confident of speaking
in public. Even though I have experience being in front of an audience as a
dancer, public speaking was one of those unknown areas for me. I learned not
only about public speaking, but about interpersonal communications, the use of
language, nonverbal communication, the act of listening, as well as well as the
influence that our cultures and perception have on the way we interact with our
environment. I also learned how to write an outline correctly and organize my
ideas in a way that is easy and interesting for my audience to follow. I
consider myself a better communicator. Now more aware of what I would say, how
I would say it and how my audience would react to it, as well as being able to
interpret that feedback.
